We've been doing this since 2003. Writing and releasing at least one song every week. Haven't missed a week yet. Lots to write about these days. You may have noticed.

Until July of 2007, all the songs were free. In four years, we reached over 1 million downloads. The site just exploded. And we made a lot of good friends along the way. Lots of radio play among progressive folk stations. Through songaweek, we met Chicago filmmaker Bruce David Janu, who asked us to write the soundtrack for his feature documentary Facing Sudan. We've written song cycles on the Rwandan Genocide and the Catholic Church clergy abuse scandal. We'll tackle anything that feels like it needs a song. Or two. Or twenty. And we've pissed off countless conservatives along the way, which is always great fun.

In July of 2007 the bills finally caught up with us, and we started charging the going rate of .99 cents per download *. It's not something we took lightly. But after giving away over 250 songs, and creating quite a buzz, we figured we'd proven ourselves. Plus, liberals need to eat too.

So that's where we're at right now. The songs keep coming, and we have no plans to stop. We appreciate all the support we've been given over the last 4 years, and ask that you continue to drop by. If there's a song you want to hear that you haven't heard yet, drop us a line. We'll write it.

* UPDATE 12/11/2007 - Seems the .99 cent idea didn't please the masses. So we're free again.
