He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword. I 'm not sure who said that, but I wish I had. A good one it is.
Good riddance. I do wonder though.....did he, for the briefest of moments, finally feel empathy for his victims?
Probably not, although there's nothing like a nice tight noose to get your mind working in ways it never has before.

I still say he got off easy. Much more painful to him would have been his continued slide into irrelevance. Dictators hate that shit.

We welcome your comments.

When they came to get me one last time
I had my hands over my eyes
heard the footprints coming near
and thought about the whys
the who's and the madness
the where's and the sun
the trembling and the knocking knees
and the sword and the gun

No use to suppress a smile
let nature take it's course
folded my hands into my lap
and I tried to reinforce
the strength of the victor
when surrounded by enemies
but oh the limitations
with shackles on your feet

but then again I would have killed me too
this is just the kind of thing that I would do
if I were them I would have killed me too

When you build your little box
and close the top on your head
the world it won't stop closing in
until the day you are dead
it's a late day for regrets my friend
but a lousy way to go
with taunts still ringing in my ears
and inches still below

And now they've got me on the door
I'd knock if I were able
but my hands are bound behind my back
and I'm still a bit unstable
perhaps a prayer to wet my lips
I've seemed to go bone dry
I wonder if others felt this way
when I sent them off to die

but then again I would have killed me too
this is just the kind of thing that I would do
if I were them I would have killed me too
