Been lost for so long forget where I've been
waste of time to search there again
for ghosts and memories of days gone by
and the power to make you cry
Send out the dogs to comb through the brush
clocks have stopped no need to rush
find a witness in any small town
where main streets all go round and round
Armed with heartache dangerous as hell
on the most wanted list and willing to sell
what's on my back on in my head
for some anesthesia and a needle and thread
Self medicate to stop the flow
of blood and what the world don't know
serotonin levels like a rubber ball
bouncing off a graffiti wall
Been lost in plain view
since the day that I lost you
clouds invade a sky of blue
Oh now I'm lost in plain view
Wrote the president and my congressman
ignore me now courted me then
cops said there's nothing we can do
step out of the car so we can look at you
Library books and late night calls
mug shot posted in bathroom stalls
GPS embedded in my brain
fun to play with dick and jane
Silky smooth and high heeled shoes
lady learned to sing the blues
barks at the moon bakes by the sun
revs me up like a loaded gun
If there's a God above or a devil below
open her heart and let me know
need a loving cup to quench my thirst
but blood and wine it tastes the worst
Another interstate another shitty bar
another pink slip and a borrowed car
alimony and SSI
another social worker left high and dry
Been lost in plain view
since the day that I lost you
what you can't bite you chew
you left me lost in plain view
