do what the voices tell them to do
from hand to mouth existing on
someone else's brain....someone else's brawn

with so many other things to do

Bellies distended...but where they lay
should provide a clue as to how they got that way
starvation or gluttony
and a rusted old tractor auctioned off by decree

If the stork is to babies as the grocer is to food
is it any wonder the farmer ain't in a good mood
corn growing where the muzak plays
ain't got no money to pay the mortgage today
