Leave the dirt on the floor
leave the scratches on the door
leave the dishes in the sink
leave my heart on the brink
leave the fire in the place
leave the tears on my face
that's not the cry of a banshee
that's another walking out on me
packin' up
she's packin' up
packin' up a suitcase
heading out of town
train whistle blows
that's a lonesome sound
packin' up

Poison ivy and benadryl
rolling boulders up a hill
women come and women go
staying long enough to just say no
air fresheners and squeaky floors
closet cleaners and closet whores
splash it on the town's marquee
another walking out on me
packin' up
she's packin' up
packin' up a suitcase
heading out of town
train whistle blows
that's a lonesome sound
packin' up

Kisses plenty kisses sweet
underwear on the back seat
the wetlands being chipped away
here tomorrow gone today
packin' up

Being alone it ain't so bad
pretendin' it's my bachelor pad
'til I find her touches everywhere
and I smell her perfume in the air
and the mirror does a double take
and begins to count my own mistakes
and my mother gives the third degree
another walking out on me
packin' up
she's packin' up
packin' up a suitcase
heading out of town
train whistle blows
that's a lonesome sound
packin' up

Kisses plenty kisses sweet
underwear on the back seat
the wetlands being chipped away
here tomorrow gone today
packin' up

packin' up
she's packin' up
packin' up a suitcase
heading out of town
train whistle blows
that's a lonesome sound
packin' up
