Tainting all with the same brush is an easy thing to do....which means
that lazy people will find it appealing. US soldiers are like people in the US
in general. Mostly decent and honest...but with assholes sprinkled liberally
about. Putting on a uniform does not make one honorable. How you act while
wearing the uniform measures that.
What a few sadists have done (at least 2 of the people accused of abuse are not
soldiers at all but mercenaries hired by private contractors) is put literally thousands of men and women who are
in the field in even more danger than they were already in. To quote Time
magazine..."No ad agency could have produced a more effective al-Qaeda
recruitment tool."
We welcome your comments.
You tell me they're the enemy
now what am I supposed to do?
you say he's looking to kill me
now what am I supposed to do?
if I close my eyes once more
maybe I'll find what I'm looking for
go and close the cell block door
You tell me to look away
now what am I supposed to do?
everybody's looking today
now what am I supposed to do?
I'll fight and die for truth
will bleed red for the white and blue
but I never signed up to die for you
you say this is war
if it wasn't it sure is now
we all know that what's in store
is all that heaven will allow
Can't cover sadism with a uniform
so what am I supposed to do?
when it's them urging me to conform
tell me what am I supposed to do
when the world'd turned upside down
those that swim learn to drown
now look who's wearing that thorny crown
