Mary Why

Mary why'd you hurt me
Mary why'd you go
Mary how'd you make me
fall so low
Mary on the outside
Mary on the in
Mary in my head and
Mary on my skin

Mary why'd you wander
Mary why'd you fly
Mary why'd you tell the truth
Mary why'd you lie
Mary on my bookshelf
and Mary on my wall
Mary's name carved
into the bathroom stall

I'm unlucky in love
some call it dumb
but I look around
I'm not the only one
Mary's got a place
for used car parts
old carburetor's
and broken down hearts

Mary percolatin'
or Mary turned down
Mary in the country
or Mary back in town
Mary on her back boys
or Mary up on top
once you're finished son
well she ain't gonna stop

call it what you will
call it what you may
expect her tomorrow
she'll be gone today
the kind of girl your mamma
she always warned you about
but she'll curl your lashes
and make you scream and shout

Mary why'd you tease me
Mary why'd you coo
why'd you let me put my paws
all over you
when the storm rolled in
I reached out my hand
you were busy backing up
the boys in the band

call it what you will
call it what you may
expect her tomorrow
she'll be gone today
the kind of girl your mamma
she always warned you about
but she'll curl your lashes
and make you scream and shout

Mary why'd you hurt me?
Mary why'd you go?
Mary how'd you make me
fall so low
Mary on the outside
Mary on the in
Mary in my head and
Mary on my skin
