Katie's Song

For Katie Fugliulo and her family

There's no why me in me
no bad memories to forget
just the softness in your eyes
and a late day for regrets

I feel the rain upon my face
feel the warming of the sun
learned to dance inside my head
and slip and slide with everyone

Sometimes we walk down darkened streets
and hear the footprints from behind
sometimes the sight of me plays tricks
on another person's mind
won't you love me
won't you love me
won't you love me
won't you love me anyway

But to the whispers and the stares
and the faces bleeding shame
I stand tall on withered vines
and laugh out loud at all the pain

If what you've no doubt held as true
is rightly challenged by my smile
them come and take a mystery ride
and roll along with me awhile

For there's no why me in me
we must live before we die
and if one thing makes me special
it might be just hard hard I try
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me

Some may climb a mountain
or seek to sail the seven seas
to get to where my heart is
when you are here with me
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me anyway

There's no why me in me
no bad memories to forget
just the softness in your eyes
and a late day for regrets

For there's no why me in me
we must live before we die
and if one thing makes me special
it might be just hard hard I try
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me
because you love me
