A string of pearls in the cold moonlight
Picking up speed near the open lands
Dreamers and lovers and wanted men
They know they can't get away
But they're trying anyway
Running from the judgement day
They have nothing to say

All aboard tonight
You can leave your troubles far behind
On the big train tonight

Big train rocking while the night rolls past
Just the other side of the window glass
Whiskey-eyed soldiers are smoking and lying
Paying no heed to a baby's crying
Their starting him young
But then they all start young
That's just the way its done
Now they're carrying guns

Big train thunders through the crack of dawn
Bloodshot eyes and gaping yawns
Soldiers are stacking their gear by the doors
Like there's something out there worth fighting for
