Keillor is one of America's true treasures. His work is always so life affirming....even when it's dark. Hard to explain that so I won't even try.

I want a job like Garrison Keillor's
writing and singing and talking all day
I'm still a liberal genteel-er
so it's only natural to feel this way
Have some work but I feel uneasy
something about it always makes me blue
morning light makes me queasy
I think I need something else to do

Love seeing my words on paper
something about it gives me a thrill
enthusiasm it will not taper
I'll find my cadence you know I will
NPR has come into some money
when rich liberals die good things occur
stuff me full of milk and honey
Lake Woebegone I prefer

He's coming to town I'm taking my father
got us some tickets in the balcony
I hear he's not very much to look at
but it's his voice that we're coming to see
Saturday nights they make me smile
we still look forward to the radio
don't touch that dial it whispers to me
and in there is where I wanna go

give me a desk and a microphone
