She came to save him in the moment he was down.
It had been raining for a month,
And he was fearful he might drown.
And just when he'd decided,
The sun would never rise again,
She happened to stop in,
And speak of heaven.
Now the fact that she was pretty didn¹t hurt,
And if it would make her love him,
He could say those magic words.
As she read to him from the Bible,
He pondered taking her to bed,
Why wait til he was dead,
To go to heaven?
Though in his heart he felt her promise was a lie,
He could feel his spirit moving
When she gazed into his eyes
And when she took his hands and held them,
And bowed her head in prayer,
The fragrance of her hair,
Whispered heaven.
When the sun rose in the morning she had been blessed.
Her faithfulness rewarded,
And her head upon his chest.
The peace that passes understanding,
Now filled her heart again,
Thankful she'd stopped in,
To speak of heaven.
