A song about men who start wars but don't fight in them

I Just Play Guitar

So the lead singer stole your wife
and the drummer waves a bowie knife
at the desk clerk who dares to say
that his pet monkey cannot stay
now they've taken over the hotel bar
don't ask me I just play guitar
don't ask me I just play guitar

The rooms are trashed and the groupies loose
on decency and drug abuse
TVs soar like butterflies
stomachs pumped when the needs arise
the bass player he just totaled another car?
don't ask me I just play guitar

I just stand in the back and strum
with a showbiz smile for everyone
save my per diem and cash my checks
invite my wife to the group sex
I just play guitar
I just play guitar

So while it's true I write the songs
and identify and right the wrongs
do the talking on the TV shows
stand in from when the camera's pose
it ain't my hand in the cookie jar
don't ask me I just play guitar
don't ask me I just play guitar

I turn it to 11 and plug my ears
all ain't always what it appears
songs to sing...bills to pay
ways to look the other way
go away with your feathers and your tar
don't ask me I just play guitar
don't ask me I just play guitar

things are inside-out don't ask me
which side you're supposed to see
the underbelly or the outer core
the marble lobby or the dirt floor
I just play guitar
I just play guitar

'Cause these things they don't concern me
when I'm covered in electricity
Chuck duckwalks and Pete windmills
bloody fingers and little pills
from the sublime to the bizarre
don't ask me I just play guitar
don't ask me I just play guitar
don't ask me I just play guitar
