If you really want to support the troops, how about losing the yellow ribbons and bumper stickers and calling
your congressman to demand pay raises for them? Families of service men are forced to live on food stamps,
food banks, and subsidized housing. How patriotic is this?

We welcome your comments.

I support the troops my friend
I've got a tree in my front yard
wrapped in yellow ribbons
and a flag mounted on my car
a flag mounted on my car

I support the troops my friend
and I support the food bank too
those soldiers' kids have got to eat
so it's the least that I can do
it's the least that I can do

And I'll thrash the man who does not stand
to salute our president
'cause in these times we must fall in line
there's no room for dissent

I support the troops my friend
so I drive an SUV
in honor of those brave young souls
who died to give that right to me
you know gasoline ain't free

I support the troops my friend
it's not my fault the world is poor
and we must protect our way of life
isn't that what an army is for
to keep poor folks off our shores

And I'll thrash the man who does not stand
to salute our president
'cause in these times we must fall in line
there's no room for dissent

I support the troops my friend
I'm gonna get me some tattoos
an eagle flying across my chest
and my ass red white and blue
I'm thinking you should too

I support the troops my friend
I know they could use a raise in pay
but if they survive they can go to school
and we'll pay part of their way
and I sure don't want my taxes raised

And I'll thrash the man who does not stand
to salute our president
'cause in these times we must fall in line
there's no room for dissent
we won't tolerate dissent
