Xmas trees in the barracks
IED's on the road
Santa in the green zone
carrying a heavy load
Allah's on the outside
just dying to get in
what I need is a stocking
to ship myself home in

it's another Christmas in Iraq
with sand instead of snow
I used to remember her face
but that was a long time ago
that was a long time ago

Captain said that eggnog
might offend sensibilities
as if waiting to get blown up
ain't offensive enough to me
God bless the little children
throwing rocks at my head
is it in the spirit of the season
to wish they were all dead?

it's another Christmas in Iraq
for Bush Cheney a silent night
but war is always like that
for those who don't have to fight
for those who don't have to fight

another silent night
another bloody fight
another piece of history
to re-write

So come gather around the table
MRE's in the setting sun
and piss warm running water
dysentery for everyone
pay no heed to the mortars
or the crack of small arms fire
just give thanks and give praise
you're behind concertina wire
